TEHRAN - Italian Ambassador to Iran Mauro Conciatori said Rome is trying to maintain its positive trade ties with Tehran despite U.S. sanctions, IRNA reported.

The official mentioned the two countries’ $5 billion trade turnover during 2017, saying that Italy is Iran’s top trade partner among the European countries and Iran’s exports to Italy are twice the amount the European nation’s exports to Iran.
According to Conciatori, Iran only exported €3 billion worth of oil and gas condensate to Italy last year.
